MIM 2018 Conference
At the MIM conference there will be at least 1000 malaria experts with an average experience of at least 5 years, so at least '5000 years' of malaria experience... And we can't figure out how to stop malaria? Untreatable malaria is spreading throughout Asia. What will happen when this resistant malaria spreads to Africa? A nightmare. I would be great to have discussion/action groups at the MIM conference to develop proposals for integrated malaria elimination.

Transparency and true collaboration
If there is one thing I really hope than it is transparent and open sharing of information and the latest knowledge. Far too often I sit in symposia where presentations merely show data that were published months earlier (and I already saw published). If we are to eliminate malaria in the next 25-30 yrs than this will require collaboration in the best possible way within and between all different aspects of malaria control and elimination. Above all, I hope that the participation of African scientists will be massive and that they will make their views heard. I attended the first MIM conference in Dakar in 1997 and expect to see a massive difference!
