Methylene blue with a 10-N carbamoyl linkage was reported to be a hydroxyl radical triggered cleavable ligand. Probed by this platform, hemoproteins were demonstrated to be a much more efficient Fenton's catalyst than commonly used inorganic Fe(ii) salts.
