MIM2013: Co-chairs of the Scientific Committee appointed

The following co-chairs of the Scientific Committee have been appointed:

Prof Karen Barnes from University of Cape Town, South Africa
Prof Karen I Barnes first joined the University of Cape Town as a senior lecturer in 1995, and progressed via ad hominem promotions to associate professor in 2004 and full professor in 2008. Prof Abdoulaye Djimde from University of  Bamako, Mali
Prof Abdoulaye Djimdé is a leading malaria researcher based in Mali, working primarily on the genetic epidemiology of antimalarial drug resistance in West Africa. He is committed to building research capacity in Africa and has been instrumental in the formation of networks and partnerships collaboratively investigating malaria and drug resistance in the region. MIM2013 - Travel awards

Deadline for applications: 30 June 2013

Awards to help cover travel costs and other expenses associated with attending the 6th MIM Pan-African Malaria Conference 2013 will be available to 100 African Researchers based at African Universities/Research Institutions. Funds are, however, very limited, so if you are able to source funds elsewhere, please do so.

Before submitting your application for an award, please read the following criteria and application instructions carefully.

MIM2013 - Cancellation and refunds

Any registration cancellations must be communicated, in writing, to the Conference Organisers: SA Medical Research Council, Events Management Office, Email: mim2013@mrc.ac.za

Any conference registration cancellations received before 1 August 2013 will carry a cancellation charge of 25% of the registration fee which will be deducted from the refund.

No refunds for cancellation will be granted after 1 August 2013.

Durban MIM2013 ready for early registration

The 'early registration deadline' is July 31th.

After this date the regular registration fees apply. Find more information about registration and fees here.

The registration includes a welcome event (Sunday, 6 October 2013), Access to all  conference sessions, Conference documentation, Tea coffee, and lunch. 
Please note that the registration fee does not include accommodation, airport transfers or any other social events.

The Multilateral Initiative on Malaria Secretariat (MIMSec) at the Biotechnology Centre of the University of Yaounde I, and the South African Medical Research Council (SA MRC) announces the 6th Pan African Malaria Conference of the Multilateral Initiative on Malaria (MIM). The 6th MIM Conference, now open for applications and to members of the media, will be held from 6-11 October 2013 in Durban, South Africa.

Pan African MIM conference 2013

In October 2013 the next Pan African MIM conference on malaria will be organised in Durban, South Africa. It follows after the MIM 2009 meeting that was held in Nairobi. Although this seems far ahead of us, at MalariaWorld we are planning to inform you in the best possible way about this upcoming event.

We will also liaise with the MIM secretariat to see how we can best inform you about the conference and provide you with all necessary information on time.
