Lancet paper on progress in malaria eliminating countries to be released on 21 April on website and 23 April in print and op-ed by Sir Richard Feachem, Dr. Richard Kamwi (E8 Ambassador) and Dr. Nafsiah Mboi (APLMA Envoy).   Related social media package to be shared on 19 April.

WHO
Working on a report focused on countries that WHO feels have the potential to eliminate malaria in the next 5 years – for release on WMD
Pedro Alonso / GMP Director to attend event in Bern hosted by the Swiss Malaria Group. The event will include a video message from the WHO Director General and a 15-minute talk by Dr Alonso

UK Parliamentary event focused on UK contribution to malaria R&D and operational research

Nigeria
Mobilization of private sector partners to mark WMD with a football match in Nigeria. No date as of yet

APLMA
The Thailand Government will be launching a new National Malaria Elimination Plan at Government House in Bangkok

Asia Pacific Malaria Week (9-14 May 2016, Bangkok, Thailand)
Asia-Pacific focus, bringing substantive regional malaria meetings to one place with all partners.
Five main events are planned during the week:
- Asia Pacific Civil Society Network Meeting (10th May, a.m.)
- Asia Pacific Private Sector Network Meeting (10th May, p.m.)
- Regional Artemisinin Initiative Regional Steering Committee Meeting (11th May)
- Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network (APMEN) AGM (12th May)
- Asia Pacific Leaders Malaria Alliance (APLMA) Senior Officials Meeting (13th May)

World Health Assembly
