The President's Malaria Initiative (PMI), in collaboration with MESA, has included its research portfolio on the MESA Track database. Click here to access the PMI portfolio
In line with its updated strategy, PMI is working with National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs) and partners on issues that are critical to malaria elimination such as adapting to the changing epidemiology, incorporating new tools, and improving countries’ capacity to collect and use information.
PMI supports operational research across its interventions, including evaluating ways to mitigate insecticide resistance; using sentinel groups to monitor the impact of malaria interventions; and assessing drug-based approaches to reduce transmission. Ongoing PMI projects include:
- Use of serology to validate health facility-based data for prioritizing IRS in the central highlands of Madagascar: http://tinyurl.com/qzulfzu
- Evaluation of intermittent mass screening and treatment to reduce malaria transmission in western Kenya: http://tinyurl.com/nzx2fnd
- The efficacy of non-pyrethroid insecticide-treated durable wall liners as a method for malaria control in endemic rural Tanzania: cluster randomized trial: http://tinyurl.com/nd3uot4
MESA Track is a freely available database of research projects relevant to malaria elimination. Currently, there are more than 400 projects in the database. MESA Track is open for any research organisation or scientist to submit their research projects.
