The Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) at the University of Oxford in Oxford, United Kingdom is searching for postdoctoral researchers with expertise in epidemiology of vector borne diseases, spatial epidemiology, and/or geospatial modelling.
MAP is part of the newly opened Big Data Institute, a part of the Nuffield Department of Medicine, which is an interdisciplinary institute created to intersect tools from data and computation sciences with research needs and opportunities in the health sciences. MAP is a world leader in infectious disease modelling and mapping that focuses on estimating the spatiotemporal patterns of Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax burden at scales ranging from the subnational unit to the globe. Successful candidates for these positions will contribute to the production of highly visible and impactful research, including the provision of malaria results for the the World Malaria Report (in collaboration with WHO), the Global Burden of Disease (in collaboration with IHME), and malaria elimination mapping endeavors (in collaboration with CHAI).
