Job Summary

Target Malaria is seeking to recruit a Stakeholder Engagement (SE) Coordinator to support the engagement activities of Target Malaria’s five African teams. This role is essential to the project and requires both strategic guidance as well as a hands-on approach to planning for milestones. The SE Coordinator will ensure that all SE activities are aligned with the project’s commitment to co-development. In addition, the coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of engagement activities with other project functional teams (regulatory affairs, project management, insectary activities, field entomology).

This position will work directly with the Project Manager – SE and Communications, the SE Development Support Officer, and in-country SE Leads to ensure successful delivery of the associated milestones agreed with the funders as per the agreed timeline and scope. This position will represent the SE Manager during select internal management discussions bringing their expertise and perspectives to inform decision making.

A deep commitment to the mission of developing and sharing new, cost-effective and sustainable genetic technologies to modify mosquitoes and reduce malaria transmission is required.

Key Responsibilities

This position will work with large autonomy and requires the ability to self-organise to achieve the project’s milestones. The coordinator will be accountable for the support to African teams in the delivery of their key engagement activities and milestones and will report to the leadership level on any new challenges and opportunities arising in the process of doing so. The coordinator will be responsible for collecting and consolidating inputs from Africa teams to ensure that all strategic decisions made by the function are fit for purpose and aligned with best practice. The coordinator will need to build strong relationships with each of the teams and be fluent in the project’s scientific and technical aspects in order to represent its work, and be proactive in identifying and addressing possible hurdles, challenges and delays. The role will require extensive travel to the African team sites, pending Covid-19 health and safety advice.
