Grade 7: £33,574 - £37,768 per annum
You will make a leading contribution to the Wellcome Trust Collaborative Award “Improving the efficacy of malaria control in an insecticide resistant Africa” by conducting spatial statistical modelling to assess the relative contribution of mosquito behaviour and insecticide resistance on observed patterns of malaria incidence within an area of high insecticide resistance in Burkina Faso. The candidate will also have opportunity to visit our collaborating institute in Burkina Faso (2-3 weeks/year) to observe how entomological data is collected and guide the collection of ecological data. The candidate will also contribute to capacity building through the provision of training to students and collaborators at the Centre Nationale de Recherche et de Formation sur la Paludisme in the statistical analysis of ecological data. The postholder will conduct, manage and publish research in the broader field of ecological epidemiology and spatial vector ecology with particular emphasis on modelling the impacts of insecticide resistance and mosquito behaviour on malaria risk.
Closing date: 17 April 2016
The University has recently been awarded the Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze Award
