CLOSED: Job: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Malaria and Implementation Research

March 18, 2015 - 11:34 -- MalariaWorld Jobs

The Duke Global Health Institute announces a postdoctoral fellowship, to start as early as June 1, 2015, for a minimum of one year, and renewable for an additional 2 years contingent upon performance and funding availability. The fellowship will focus on implementation science to address the problem of presumptive treatment of fevers with antimalarials.

This position is under the direct supervision of faculty member Wendy Prudhomme O’Meara, PhD, and will support a skilled scientist interested in developing a career in malaria and vector‐borne disease, health services, and implementation science research. The postdoctoral fellow will be a member of the Duke Global Health Institute and also participate fully on the NIH‐funded project entitled “Innovative Public Private Partnerships (IPPP) to Target Antimalarials in the Retail Sector.” The IPPP project seeks to understand and improve testing and treatment of malaria and non‐malaria fevers at the community level and through partnerships with the private retail sector. The fellow will have access to existing datasets and participate in prospective study design and data collection with the possibility to incorporate new ideas into upcoming surveys and patient encounters.

Individuals who have completed a PhD or DrPH in applied statistics, epidemiology, public health, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have strong writing, presentation, and communication skills, good project management and leadership abilities, and excellent analytical reasoning and quantitative skills.

Interested applicants should submit via email one single pdf file that contains a cover letter and CV, one or more writing samples, and names of at least two references to: Wendy Prudhomme O’Meara at wpo@duke.edu. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt, and some applicants may be asked to submit reference letters. Please write “Postdoctoral Application” in the subject line of your email.
