The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an international centre of excellence and our researchers have access to the most up to date, cutting edge technology, making us world leaders in our field. Due to our continued growth and success, we are now looking to appoint a Senior Research Assistant within the Vector Group.
Based in Cambodia and Liverpool UK, you will be responsible for conducting and overseeing experiments to reduce mosquito mediated transmission of malaria in forest regions of Cambodia. This will involve sampling local vector populations and participating in the design and implementation of trials of vector control tools. You will also be responsible for supervising Cambodian field staff and MSc students involved in the project.
You should have a PhD in Vector Biology or Malaria Epidemiology, and have previous experience of field work with a proven ability to perform research on entomological monitoring and evaluation in relation to malaria transmission.
The postholder should have the following:
• A sound knowledge of Vector control principles
• A good comprehension of computer and statistics packages with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SPSS
• Be willing to spend long periods of time working in remote regions
• Experience of working to deadlines
• Be a responsible and clear communicator
• Ability to work with limited supervision
