April 10, 2014 - 20:30 -- MalariaWorld Jobs

Organisation: PSI
Location: Washington DC, USA

PSI is seeking an experienced, dynamic Deputy Director of its Malaria and Child Survival Department (MCSD) to oversee PSI’s rapidly expanding portfolio of MCS programs. PSI is one of the largest global health organizations and its malaria and child survival programs account for about half of its business.

PSI has delivered over 200 million long lasting insecticidal nets in 36 countries through a range of delivery channels and is building on 40 years of experience in private sector health service provision to scale up diagnosis and treatment of malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea through a range of private providers in 26 African and Asian countries as well as through community based health worker channels in 6 countries. We are now applying market based approaches to scale up access to improved sanitation, address nutritional deficiencies, transform antimalarial markets and pilot the introduction of new interventions, such as chlorhexidine, as part of a comprehensive maternal and neonatal package around birth.

The Deputy Director will play a key leadership role within PSI’s headquarters in Washington DC; providing management oversight and strategic guidance to a highly motivated team of technical advisors and program support staff. The Deputy Director serves on the MCSD Senior Management Team which provides a platform to influence policy and practice, not just at HQ level but also across PSI’s global network of more than 60 country programs employing over 9,000 staff. Furthermore, the Deputy Director will play an important liaison role with external partners to effectively position PSI as a key thought leader and leading implementing partner in the malaria and child survival sphere.

The position is based in Washington DC, and reports to the Senior Vice President (Malaria and Child Survival) who is based in Nairobi.
